Why other Bilingual Individuals work as Interpreters/Translators
  • I find joy in helping others who are in need. I love to see the delighted faces of others after I have interpreted for them because it makes me feel as though I have done my part in being able to help them with their problems.

  • I enjoy speaking more than one language and just being able to help people to cross the bridge of communication is very rewarding for me.

  • I enjoy meeting people and being of assistance to them to communicate with doctors, teachers, etc. Being an interpreter has taken me to areas which would otherwise not open to me. It is an interesting activity - never the same.

  • Inadequate knowledge of English is a huge disadvantage. It creates many obstacles in the daily lives of immigrants/refugees/asylees in the United States. As an interpreter, I help these people by eliminating their disadvantage while they are receiving their services.

  • I want to be able to work for myself, to use my native and other languages at work, and to help people. I feel I do all that while working as an interpreter.
