Ms. Alexis Dalmat

Ms. Alexis Dalmat is a native of Atlanta with a global perspective. After developing an interest in immigrant issues growing up, Alexis received her Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and Cultural Anthropology at Boston University. Her extensive travel, mainly throughout Latin America, has developed her Spanish language and anthropological experience. She studied with International Honors Program to better understand indigenous perspectives and ways of life in Mexico, India, New Zealand, and Canada.
Alexis has worked in public health and safety, labor advocacy and campaigning, and communications/marketing. Ms. Dalmat has experience managing non-profit programs, overseeing personnel, and writing successful grant proposals. In addition, she has a proven track-record of establishing successful relationships between immigrant communities and their American neighbors.
Ms. Alia Hassanali

Ms. Alia Hassanali has been an Atlanta resident since the early 1990’s. Since then she has seen Atlanta grow and become an international community. In 2007, she graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology. During her undergraduate years, Ms. Hassanali spent time volunteering in Karachi, Pakistan and Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. She has a strong interest in international communities with a particular interest in Communities and Mental Health in relation to immigrants and refugees.
Being an immigrant herself who struggled with language barriers, Ms. Hassanali empathizes with other immigrants and is eager to provide assistance. She is excited to be working with Culture Connect Inc. where she hopes to make an impact on the local immigrant and refugee communities.

Ms. Ife Finch

Ms. Ife Finch, a native of Atlanta, received her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Northwestern University. In her undergraduate studies, Ife focused her sociological research on colorism in the African American community. She spent four months in the Dominican Republic, which initiated her interest in traveling and world cultures. Even though in the she future plans to travel to Africa and Latin America, Ife wants to continue her education with a domestic focus on social policy and women’s interests. Ife joined the AmeriCorp VISTA program to begin her career in social justice work and bettering the local community.
Ms. Jennah Scott

Ms. Jennah Scott brings deep insights to Culture Connect from her personal experience as an immigrant from Liberia, moving to the U.S. in elementary school. Jennah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and International Affairs from Georgia State University, with a concentration on the relationships between global and regional developments. She has held a number of leadership positions in various community and student organizations. Her international experience includes field research in Ghana and in her native country Liberia, where she interned with the African Union office in 2007. Her interests include international politics and the sustainability/effectiveness of non-profit organizations.
Ms. Brittany VanValkenburgh

Brittany VanValkenburgh was born and raised in Georgia, and earned her Bachelor's Degre in Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies from Georgia State University in May of 2007. Her professional goals lie in humanitarian efforts which strive to advance cross-cultural understanding and social justice. Brittany plans to spend time working abroad before pursuing graduate studies in order to gain more first-hand experience of cultures around the globe. She is serving as an AmeriCorps volunteer with Culture Connect, Inc. to help foster positive acculturation of immigrants and refugees in the U.S., to gain a greater understanding of non-profit organizations, and to serve her local community.
